Matt Monteiro

A lifelong wrestler and coach with 19 years of coaching experience, Coach Monteiro brings a proven background as both an elite competitor and a developer of wrestlers at every level.

Bakersfield High School Girls Head Coach

Albert Urias

A former NCAA Division I wrestler at Cal State Bakersfield, Coach Urias combines high-level competitive experience with eight years of youth coaching throughout Kern County. He has led the DWC Lil Bits program for two years, creating a strong and positive foundation for the club’s youngest wrestlers.

As a former Bakersfield High School boys assistant coach, he helped all 14 wrestlers qualify for the state meet during his first year—only the second time in program history—and coached multiple state medalists. In his first year as the BHS girls head coach, three athletes advanced to the state meet, the most in program history.

Adam Fierro

A Driller Wrestling Club and Bakersfield High School alumnus and former Cal State Bakersfield wrestler, Coach Fierro is entering his seventh season as the BHS head wrestling coach.

His coaching record includes 17 state medals, six Valley Champions, 49 state qualifiers and 14 All-Americans. He also helped lead the Bakersfield Drillers to a CIF Central Section Valley championship in 2023 and a CIF State championship in 2024—the final high school wrestling state championship before the section split.

Brian Lujan

A four-year varsity wrestler at Clovis West High School and Cuesta College wrestling alumnus, Coach Lujan brings extensive folkstyle, freestyle and Greco-Roman experience into the DWC room.
